Does Positive Thinking Work?

The short answer is “No”. Positive thinking does not work because it’s just more thinking. Thinking is done in the conscious mind but our lives are dictated by the deeper programs that are stored in our subconscious or unconscious mind.

To change your life you need to make and leave an impression on your subconscious mind. This is why you need to set your mind so that, at a deep subconscious level, you expect your goals and objectives to be achieved.

Your brain is designed for daily repetitive preprogrammed thinking. These thought patterns enable you make it through each day (remember your brain is designed for survival). To facilitate this your brain is designed to select negative over positive thoughts.

Surely this means that positive thinking is better! In fact, recent research has shown that positive thinking can distract us from obvious danger and give us a delusional perspective on our own abilities.

At least, if you stick to your default settings - of selecting negative thoughts - you won’t do yourself any harm!!
